10 Characters Who Need to Be Added as Playable Fighters in Invincible VS

White the current game has a very diverse roster, with the recent addition of Conquest and other notable characters, we feel that Skybound Games’ fighting title could benefit from a few inclusions.

Invincible VS launched with a lot of fanfare given that its release culminated in the animated show’s end of season on Prime Video—it even snagged a 77/100 score on Metacritic at the time of this writing. Featuring a foundational roster of 18 fighters, including a mix of series icons like Omni-Man and original creations like Ella Mental, the game has been on the headlines for a while now.

And while the initial lineup, as well as post-launch inclusions such as Conquest, do a nice job of keeping things fresh, the community did notice a few, important names missing.

We too have a few things to say about that, and feel that Skybound Games’ fighting title will benefit from including a handful of names. Here are our picks for 10 characters who need to be added as playable fighters in Invincible VS.

10. Red Rush

Red Rush didn’t have much of a spotlight in the Invincible comics or its animated counterpart, given the events of the first season. However, as the primary speedster of the original Guardians of the Globe, he represents a gameplay style that is currently entirely absent from the roster.

People on Reddit (not to mention some members of our team) have argued that his inclusion is necessary to provide a high-mobility archetype to an otherwise hard-hitting roster. Think of him as a runner’s version of Spider-Man in Marvel versus Capcom—not quite as impactful as, say, the Hulk or Omni-Man, but his lesser strong punches are compensated by a barrage of quick moves.

Although…we wouldn’t read too deep on that comparison, given there is another entry of that analogy further down…

9. Oliver

The protagonist’s half-brother, Oliver, is a frequent topic of debate on social media and YouTube due to his Thraxan heritage and rapid aging. While some community members express concern about including a younger character in such a violent game, others point to his significant evolution throughout the story as a reason he deserves a slot. His potential moveset could blend standard Viltrumite power with unique tactical maneuvers reflecting his specific upbringing.

8. Dinosaurus

Often cited on Reddit as a “shoe-in” for future DLC, Dinosaurus is a fan-favorite for those who want more “heavy tank” characters. Beyond his prehistoric aesthetic, he is known for his immense intelligence and brutal efficiency, which could make him a formidable grappler in a tag-team setting. Community members often include him in wishlists specifically for his ability to provide a non-standard silhouette and a different weight class compared to the current lineup.

7. Agent Spider

HEAR US OUT! We can practically sense you picking up your controllers to throw at us for even daring to mention a passing character, but please, put them down for a second. The demand for Agent Spider highlights the community’s desire for guest characters that lean into the series’ multiverse themes.

He is frequently requested on Reddit and Twitter, and this character would offer a completely different mechanical feel, focusing on web-swinging, wall-crawling, and high-agility verticality. His inclusion would serve as a popular nod to the wider comic world while providing a distinct zoner or trapper playstyle.

Sooo…not exactly “our” pick, but we’re ok with it?

6. Shapesmith

And speaking about top priority for community requests, Shapesmith is one of the most asked for characters to join the Invincible VS roster. The idea is that he may offer more variety in gameplay through his abilities, either manipulating his long reach or even imitating other characters, like a poor man’s version of Shang Tsung.

The idea is to make this the unpredictable joker in the team, mixing up abilities to confuse enemies with skill and strategy instead of raw power.

5. Shrinking Rae

Following her standout moments in the animated series, Shrinking Rae has climbed to the top of many DLC wishlists.

According to many players on Reddit, her size-changing powers could work similarly to famous shrinking fighters in other major franchises. The prospect of a character who can disappear mid-combo or strike from unexpected angles is seen as a perfect way to counter the game’s larger, more physical combatants.

Plus, it’s not like she’d be new to this: Shrinking Rae was a pretty solid A-tier character on the mobile fighting game Invincible: Guarding the Globe.

4. The Mauler Twins

The Mauler Twins are the most requested “puppet” or “tag-team” archetype, with fans on various forums suggesting they should be played as a single unit.

This would allow for a unique mechanical gimmick where the player manages two bodies at once to set up traps or double-team an enemy. Given their role as recurring scientific menaces, the community feels their mix of brawn and high-tech gadgetry is a major missing piece.

3. Tech Jacket

As the character who effectively began this shared universe, Tech Jacket is viewed by many as a mandatory addition. His Geldarian armor provides a versatile toolkit that combines heavy artillery with high-speed flight, offering a technological alternative to the innate superpowers of the Viltrumites.

Community advocates frequently cite his historical importance and the visual flair of his armor as reasons he should have been in the base roster. The only question is…would it be the comic book version (who’s a very male “Zach” Thompson), or the animated show version (who’s a very female “Zoe” Thompson)? Either way, we’re all for it.

2. Angstrom Levy

Surprise turned to demand when players realized Angstrom Levy was missing from the launch lineup.

As the central antagonist of several major story arcs, his portal-based powers are seen as essential for a game that heavily features a multiverse-focused story mode. Remember the teleporting attack from the likes of Scorpion and Noob Saibot in older Mortal Kombat games? Imagine a character built around that mechanic.

Players on Reddit have imagined this, and detailed how his other abilities, like summoning drones and reinforcements from other dimensions, would make him the ultimate zoner and a narratively vital addition to the game.

1. Thragg

Yes. Believe it or not, Thragg, the all powerful main antagonist of the Invincible lore, is absent from Invincible VS. We don’t know why Skybound Games decided it like that and it is likely we will see him added sooner rather than later (I mean, they did bring Anissa and goddamn Lucan, his underlings, but not him?).

Still, Thragg, the obscenely strong Grand Regent of the Viltrum Empire, the man uppercutted Omni-Man from inside the planet to outside of the planet, the man who pulls heads off with a simple arm swing, is obviously the top choice of nearly every community poll, Reddit thread, and wishlist that regards characters to be added to the game.

And there is not much to add in terms of gameplay here: much like in the comics or the animated series, Thragg fights just like Invincible, Omni-Man or any other viltrumite: since they are all pretty much Superman analogies, their moves entail flying, punching and kicking—except Thragg does it better than all of his peers. He is faster, stronger, far more resilient (he ate Invincible’s full force punches to the face and didn’t even blink)…so omitting him from the initial lineup wasn’t just unexpected: it was a major, ball dropping moment from the devs.

Final Thoughts

While the initial release of Invincible VS has provided a strong foundation for a competitive fighter, it is clear that the community is hungry for more variety. By looking toward characters that break the “flying brick” mold—such as the portal-hopping Angstrom Levy or the shapeshifting Shapesmith—the developers have an opportunity to significantly deepen the game’s strategic layer. If Skybound and Quarter Up listen to these persistent requests, the future of the roster looks both diverse and incredibly powerful.

Invincible VS was released on April 30, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S.
