As Arknights: Endfield continues to pick up steam against its competitors, more and more of its systems are being closely examined by the player base. One of them is the Etchspace Salvage mode, a replayable and permanent extraction-style activity that rewards a healthy amount of resources for your Endministrator and their operators.

Not only is it genuinely fun to engage with, but it is also fairly straightforward on the surface. Still, much like Delver of the Deep, it carries more depth than your average questline once you start digging into its mechanics. So read on to learn everything you need to know about the Etchspace Salvage mode in Arknights: Endfield.

What is Etchspace Salvage

Like we mentioned before, Etchspace Salvage is a replayable, permanent extraction-style game mode in Arknights: Endfield. In this activity, you are deployed into areas known as Valley’s Aberrants, where your goal is to gather valuable materials and extract safely before a hazard called Derangement reaches its maximum threshold.

The map itself is divided into three distinct zones. Each one contains different types of loot and features progressively higher rates of Derangement accumulation, meaning the deeper you go, the greater the risk. Managing that risk is the core of the experience.

If you manage to extract successfully, the materials you collected are converted into Aurylene Crystals and Operation Metrics. These currencies are then used to unlock milestone rewards, making each run a meaningful step toward long-term progression.

How to Unlock Etchspace Salvage Mode

In order to access most activities in Arknights: Endfield, you need to reach specific Authority Levels, and Etchspace Salvage is no exception. To unlock it, your Authority Level must be at least 25. On top of that, you must progress the main story to Chapter 1 – Process 3.

Once those requirements are fulfilled, a priority mission titled “Etchspace Salvage” will appear in your quest menu. This mission tasks you with completing Main Mission 17, Mystery in the Building. After that, you will need to travel to Dijiang and speak with Aquito to move things forward.

From there, you will go through a guided introduction to the mode’s core mechanics, including the collection of Precipitation Crystals. After completing this initial walkthrough, Etchspace Salvage becomes permanently accessible through its dedicated portal.

Commission Types and Support Tech

In Etchspace Salvage mode, your activities are structured around “Commissions,” which are split into two categories: Focus Commissions and Exploration Commissions. Focus Commissions function as weekly objectives and are one of the main sources of Operation Metrics. They become available once you have completed all Key Commissions up to Aberrant Zone 3. You can have up to four active Focus Commissions at the same time, and each completed one rewards 5,000 Operation Metrics.

If a particular commission feels too demanding or requires materials that are not efficient for your current route, you can spend Aurylene Crystals to reroll it or add a new one. Keep in mind that the crystal cost increases with each consecutive use, so constant rerolling can quickly become expensive.

Exploration Commissions, on the other hand, are tied to long-term progression. These tasks reward permanent Support Tech buffs that enhance future extraction runs. The core mission in this category is “Aberrant Exploration,” which must be completed in order to unlock weekly Focus Commissions and gain access to higher rarity turn-in items.

Since Exploration Commissions provide lasting, account-wide benefits, it is strongly recommended to prioritize them early on rather than focusing solely on short-term farming gains. As for the permanent buffs you can unlock through these commissions, they include the following:

  • Stable Protocols: Increases your overall Derangement Limit, allowing you to stay in the Aberrant Zones longer before being extracted.
  • Fragmented Treatment: Restores a percentage of Max HP to the operator with the lowest health in your team whenever a common or elite enemy is defeated.
  • Armor Gilding: Provides a permanent percentage increase to your operators’ Max HP while inside the Valley’s Aberrants.
  • Tactical Tempo: Restores Skill Points (SP) to your team upon defeating an enemy.
  • Derangement Tolerance: Increases your tolerance to the hazard, which lowers the rate at which Derangement builds up during exploration.
  • Container Expansion: Increases the capacity of your Isolation Container, allowing you to carry more items and nodules in a single run.
  • Nodule Refining: Improves the conversion efficiency of Precipitation Nodules, increasing the total amount of Aurylene Crystals you receive upon extraction by up to 150%.
  • Portable Explosives: Unlocks the use of throwables and increases the maximum number of Industrial Explosives you can carry.

Core Mechanics: Derangement and Items

Derangement is a constant threat that increases by 1 point every second while you are outside safe zones. Think of it like the Withering Zones in Genshin Impact, when you’re advancing the Sumeru questline, and you’ll get the gist of it. The rate at which the Derangement can affect you is multiplied by the zone you are in: 1x in Zone 1, 3x in Zone 2, and 5x in Zone 3.

Combat doubles the accumulation rate, and opening containers or crystals adds a flat increase of 5 or 10 points. If you reach the maximum Derangement limit, you are forcibly extracted after 10 seconds.

Items, meanwhile, are scattered across specific sources throughout the map. Precipitation Crystals drop from Nodules and convert into Aurylene Crystals upon extraction. Packages contain Classified items. Instrument Safes reward Gold Statuettes. Auto-Vendors provide Specimens and can be opened twice per run. Standard chests are also scattered around the map, containing Oroberyl, and once opened, they do not reset.

All of this means Etchspace Salvage is far from a routine battle mode. Every decision is shaped by a time-sensitive pressure system that constantly forces you to weigh risk against reward.

Tips and Tricks to Excel in Etchspace Salvage Mode

Now that you know all there is to know about Arknight: Endfield’s Salvage Etchspace Salvage mode, there are some tips you can use throughout your playthrough to ensure maximum performance and major wins in items and resources. While not mandatory, these are all aspects you should consider, as there’s nothing to lose if you don’t follow them, but there’s a lot to gain if you do:

  • Unlock Shortcuts Early: Locate and activate ziplines and ropes (marked by pillars of light) as soon as possible. These create permanent shortcuts that significantly reduce the time spent traveling and, consequently, the amount of Derangement built up in future runs.
  • Be Selective with Storage: Interacting with storage points increases Derangement, so only open the specific containers (Packages, Safes, or Vendors) required for your active Commissions.
  • Prioritize Crystals for Metrics: Farming Precipitation Crystals is the safest way to gain progress, as every extracted Aurylene Crystal grants one Operation Metric.
  • Manage Combat Carefully: Since combat doubles Derangement buildup, try to finish fights quickly or avoid unnecessary enemies when your Derangement is high.
  • Use Healing Nodules: You cannot bring your own consumables, so look for Healing Nodules on the map to restore team HP and revive disconnected teammates.
  • Reroll Inefficient Commissions: If a Focus Commission requires rare items that are slow to farm, use your Aurylene Crystals to reroll for a more manageable task.

Arknights: Endfield is available as a free-to-play game (although microtransactions apply here and there) on PlayStation 5, Windows (via official site or Epic Games Store), IOS, and Android devices.
