Counter-Strike 2 has brought back one of its most beloved maps, as Cache officially returns in the game’s latest update. It was announced through a Steam Community post yesterday, on the 28th of April, confirming that the classic battleground is once again available for players to jump into.

For longtime fans, Cache will feel instantly familiar. The map retains its signature three-lane layout, designed around tight coordination and strategic play. At the same time, it remains approachable for newer players, offering a straightforward structure that’s easy to learn but difficult to master.

Cache is currently playable across several modes, including Casual, Competitive, Deathmatch, and Retakes, though Valve noted this lineup may change over time. The update message also leaned into nostalgia, reminding players to “clear Forklift” before heading into matches, a nod that veterans will recognize immediately.

Originally introduced as a custom map in Counter-Strike: Source, Cache later became a staple in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive during Operations Bravo and Phoenix. Built around the classic bomb defusal format, the map pits Terrorists against Counter-Terrorists in a battle of positioning, timing, and map control. Over time, it earned a reputation as one of the most balanced and competitive maps in the game’s rotation.

Its return in Counter-Strike 2 continues Valve’s trend of reintroducing fan-favorite content while updating it for the newer engine. While the core layout remains intact, the updated version benefits from the visual and technical improvements that define the latest iteration of the franchise.

With Cache back in the rotation, players now have another reason to revisit familiar strategies or learn them for the first time. Whether you’re a veteran returning to old callouts or a newcomer exploring it for the first time, the map’s comeback is a notable addition to the current lineup.
