Mixing spells and shooting has been a staple in gaming for quite some time, but few managed to grab the attention of fantasy and western fans like Far Far West. Fireshine Games’s co-op horror game has brought over 21,000 reviews on Steam (94% of them positive, at the time of this writing) since its launch in late April.
And, as early access games go, the community is already all over this game, playing through every detail of it in order to learn about its inner workings without missing a beat. That includes us, as we took a deep dive and came up with a list of the best weapons you can possibly have within this first-person shooter. Check out our breakdown below!
10. Revolver

The Revolver is the most basic tool in any gunslinger’s holster, serving as the default sidearm for the earliest contracts. While it provides reliable backup damage during your first few missions, its effectiveness drops off significantly as soon as you encounter armored enemies or larger hordes that require more stopping power.
Most players find this weapon to be a mere placeholder while they gather the 500 Gold required to assemble a specialized firearm at the Weaponsmith. It lacks the scaling and specialized multipliers found in the elite sidearms, making it the first item you should look to replace once you start your permanent progression in the Saloon.
9. Sheriff Star

The Sheriff Star is a niche sidearm that prioritizes speed and stealth over raw ballistic impact. In the current meta, it is often viewed as a “vibes” weapon rather than a serious contender for high-difficulty runs because its projectiles simply cannot keep up with the scaling health of Nightmare-tier enemies.
While it can be useful for quick hits or finishing off low-health targets with its rapid fire rate, it remains firmly in the C-Tier of the arsenal. Unless you are running a very specific build that focuses on high-speed projectiles, you are generally better off investing your resources into a weapon that offers more significant damage per shot.
8. Boomerang

The Boomerang offers one of the most unique playstyles in the game, operating as an ammo-free sidearm that returns to the thrower after each toss. This mechanic makes it a tempting choice for conservationist builds where managing lead is a constant struggle, especially in the resource-scarce early game.
Unfortunately, the weapon’s innovative design does not translate to high-tier performance, as it lacks the raw damage and crowd-clearing potential of standard firearms. It is widely considered a novelty item that is fun to use in lower-difficulty maps but quickly becomes a liability when the supernatural threats get serious.
7. Dual Revolvers

The Dual Revolvers are a high-octane secondary choice that currently boasts the highest raw damage per second (DPS) in the game’s live data. They are perfect for aggressive players who want to clear small clusters of enemies quickly without relying on their primary weapon or spells.
Despite their impressive stats on paper, they sit in the middle of the ranking because they lack the specialized utility or massive headshot multipliers found in more technical elite sidearms. They are a dependable B-tier option that works well in most mid-game situations but doesn’t quite reach the meta-defining status of the S-tier elite.
6. Bow

The bow is the cornerstone of mobility-focused builds, as it allows players to fire elemental arrows while staying mobile on horseback, making it a tactical powerhouse for applying debuffs and producing elemental effects across a wide battlefield.
While it may not offer the direct ballistic damage of a heavy rifle, its ability to create elemental fields like fire tornadoes makes it a vital tool for certain spell-heavy loadouts. It is particularly effective in solo runs where kiting enemies is the primary strategy for survival against overwhelming odds.
5. Long Ranger

The Long Ranger is the definitive sniper rifle for marksmen who prefer to neutralize high-priority threats from a safe distance. It delivers an unholy amount of damage with every shot, allowing skilled players to clear the field of dangerous targets before they can even close the gap.
While it is an elite choice for those who favor a precision playstyle, its slower fire rate can make it punishing if you miss your shots in a crowded or fast-paced arena. It is a high-performance tool that rewards patience and accurate aim, making it a reliable pick for high-level squad play where one player can focus on long-range support.
4. Minigun

The Minigun is a raw damage machine designed for maximum suppression and crowd control. With its massive 300-round magazine and enemy-piercing rounds, it can shred through dense waves of supernatural threats with ease, earning it a high ranking among heavy-duty builds.
The only significant drawback to this heavy hitter is the severe movement speed penalty it imposes while firing, which requires perfect positioning to avoid being flanked by faster enemies. However, if you can find a safe spot to plant your feet, it is one of the most oppressive and effective weapons in the game.
3. Shotgun

The Shotgun is the gold standard for close-quarters aggression, capable of one-shotting most standard enemies and clearing waves in record time. Its effectiveness is magnified when paired with specific Joker perks, such as those that increase power based on the number of bullets missing from the magazine.
Now, you may be wondering why the Shotgun is higher in our list than the minigun, and the reason for that is simple: while the minigun has the range advantage, actually starting to fire it takes a longer time than every other weapon (its animation involves your character’s hands turning a crank handle a few times before the first bullet ever comes out), while the shotgun is a more “press button-start firing” thing.
However, even the shotgun has some drawbacks, since it demands a risky “aggro” playstyle, which makes it a good pick for players who aren’t afraid to get in the face of the undead. While its accuracy at a distance is poor, that becomes irrelevant once you have mastered the art of closing the gap and unleashing its devastating burst damage.
2. Leveredge

The Leveredge (often referred to as the Winchester Repeater) is widely considered the safest and most consistent primary weapon for Nightmare difficulty. It strikes a perfect balance between hard-hitting damage and forgiving handling, making it the go-to choice for long solo runs where reliability is the most important factor.
Its greatest strength lies in its exceptional ammo efficiency and precision, allowing you to land accurate shots consistently across various ranges. When fitted with the Stacked Lever Joker—which instantly reloads bullets—it becomes a near-limitless source of lead that rarely leaves you vulnerable during a boss fight.
1. Quad Cylinder

Sitting firmly at the top of the meta, the Quad Cylinder is a hybrid rifle-shotgun that delivers unrivaled burst damage at medium range. It is celebrated as the best overall weapon in Far Far West because it can handle everything from horde clusters to armored bosses with ease.
What truly sets the Quad Cylinder apart is its aggressive scaling with fire-rate upgrades and Joker stat buffs, allowing it to outperform every other firearm once fully leveled. It is a versatile, lethal masterpiece that every serious gunslinger should prioritize tracking at the Saloon to ensure endgame success.
Final Thoughts
Far Far West’s arsenal is not that big in numbers, but the variety of applications each weapon can bring truly makes mastering them a satisfying endeavour, not unlike maxing out characters and weapon skills in gacha games.
Shooters like this, which mix strategy and intelligent resource management in a real-time threatening environment, are hard to come by, and help to reduce the perception of “dumb war game” the genre has been known about—sometimes, rightfully so. And this is only further perceived once you learn the best ways to improve each weapon to its full potential (*mumble mumble* “Joker buffs” *mumble mumble*).
Far Far West is available in early access on Steam.
