World’s Edge has released the latest Age of Mythology: Retold DLC called Obsidian Mirror. This is the final DLC release as part of the game’s Expansion Pack. This means if you already own the Expansion Pack, you do not have to pay anything extra for the latest DLC. Obsidian Mirror focuses on the Aztec Pantheon, featuring 3 Major Gods and 9 Minor Gods. It further adds a new 12-mission campaign, a new Fear and Illusion gameplay mechanic, new maps, and more.
Let’s have a closer look at everything new in Age of Mythology: Retold – Obsidian Mirror DLC.
Aztec Pantheon Awaits You

The addition of the Aztec Pantheon has brought new gods, monsters, powers, and rivalries for the Age of Mythology: Retold players to engage in. The three new Major Gods added to the game are Quetzalcoatl, Tezcatlipoca, and Huitzilopochtli. They have a unique playstyle and powers.
- Quetzalcoatl: Also known as the Feathered Serpent, who rules as a wise priest-king. It has the power of wind and focuses on culture and learning.
- Tezcatlipoca: Also known as the Smoking Mirror, who prefers night, sorcery, and chaos. It is capable of bending reality with illusion and can also summon underworld minions.
- Huitzilopochtli: Also known as the God of Sun and War. It demands sacrifice and devotion, and grants “devastating power” to anyone willing to offer.
The DLC also adds nine Minor Gods with unique powers and playstyles, such as Itzpapalotl, Tlaloc, and Xolotl.
New Campaign and Gameplay Mechanic

The Obsidian Mirror DLC adds a new 12-mission campaign to Age of Mythology: Retold. The story begins with the destruction of the utopian city of Aztlan because of the fierce rivalry between Quetzalcoatl and Tezcatlipoca. It results in Huitzilopochtli taking advantage of the situation and leading his people south to find a new empire. Meanwhile, Tezcatlipoca manages to escape using the Obsidian Mirror and recruits allies to reclaim his lost dominance.
The newly added Fear and Illusion gameplay mechanic will make the game a lot more fun. Players will now be able to manipulate enemy behavior, lay traps, construct towers from fallen foes, and harvest life force. The official description adds, “At the heart of Aztec power lies Tonalli, the essence of life released in battle. Every fallen warrior will fuel divine Favor and empower your gods, driving your civilization forward. Even your villagers can offer their life force when greater power is needed”.
This means that with the help of the new campaign and mechanics, Age of Mythology: Retold players will have new powers, enemies, and strategies to look forward to. Other notable additions in the new DLC include new achievements, cheat codes, and relics.
