Sony has officially announced its first PlayStation 5 gaming monitor at the State of Play Japan event. The latest release is part of Sony’s dedicated hardware lineup that targets both PS5 and PC gamers. It previously unveiled the Pulse Elevate wireless speakers for PC and console gaming. The gaming monitor is packed with all the modern features that one expects, but also has a built-in DualSense Charging Hook that makes it stand apart from the crowd.
Sony PlayStation Gaming Monitor: Features and Specifications
The official Sony PlayStation gaming monitor is available in a single 27-inch display size. It offers a Quad HD (QHD) IPS display with 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution. The panel supports 240Hz refresh rate, but it goes up to 120Hz while playing PS5 and PS5 Pro games. You will need a compatible PC or Mac game to take advantage of the highest possible refresh rate.
The monitor has HDR support with Auto HDR Tone Mapping. The latter works with PS5 and PS5 Pro and auto-adjusts the HDR setting during the setup process. The unique thing about the PlayStation gaming monitor is the built-in DualSense Charging Hook. It is available on the back side of the monitor and folds down whenever needed. The hook can be used to charge your DualSense or DualSense Edge wireless controller. The idea behind the hook is to make it easier and convenient for players to charge the controller when they are not playing.

Sony says its official gaming monitor supports VESA mounting. As for the connectivity options, here is a complete list of ports that you will get with the monitor:
- Two HDMI IN ports (ver 2.1) and one DisplayPort IN port (ver 1.4) for compatibility with PS5, PC, Mac, or other devices
