Wuthering Waves: Hiyuki’s Best Team Comps

The arrival of the 3.3 update gives “WuWa” players a major power boat in the form of Hiyuki, a Glacio-based resonator that focuses on, well, killing everything while being flashy. But who should you pair her up with?

Wuthering Waves’ Hiyuki is the new powerhouse in the game, boasting high-impact abilities that handle everything with ease, from smaller enemies to major bosses. As the new main carry following the 3.3 update, her build is tailored to dish out incredible damage while taking advantage of fast energy buildup that allows her to use her most flashy moves more often than most characters.

That said, Wuthering Waves is still an RPG at heart, and most games in the genre prioritize party construction so team members can play off each other’s skills for maximum output. So now we have a full breakdown of who should be in the same team as Hiyuki. And spoiler: main character Rover is taking some time off.

We are going full girl squad on this.

The Gold Standard: Hiyuki, Lynae, and Chisa

One of the strongest team compositions for Hiyuki pairs her with Lynae and Chisa, each covering a key part of her damage cycle. Hiyuki serves as the main burst carry, Lynae acts as a sub-DPS and amplifier, and Chisa provides essential support by boosting status effects.

Hiyuki’s biggest limitation is the setup required to reach her high-damage “Foreclaimed Self” state. Lynae helps by granting a 25% Resonance Liberation DMG boost through her Outro, while Chisa increases Glacio Chafe stack limits and applies Havoc Bane, enabling Hiyuki’s “Fine Snow” buffs to hit much harder.

Glacio Chafe is central to Hiyuki’s kit. It slows enemies and builds into Glacio Bite, which increases damage based on stacks. Hiyuki can then consume those stacks for a massive burst, making this trio particularly effective at maximizing her damage window.

The Stable, Safe Bet: Hiyuki, Lynae, and Shorekeeper

When Shorekeeper was introduced in Wuthering Waves, many players felt she lacked offensive impact, functioning mostly as a healer and support. That has not changed much, but Hiyuki’s arrival has made her far more valuable as a buffer.

In this lineup, Lynae still boosts Hiyuki’s Resonance output, but replacing Chisa with Shorekeeper provides stronger field stability and Crit Rate buffs through Stellarealm. While you lose some of the specialized status synergy, Shorekeeper’s raw statistical buffs often compensate in general combat.

This setup is ideal for players who find Hiyuki’s complex rotations difficult under pressure. Shorekeeper smooths out the entire flow, ensuring Hiyuki operates inside a buffed zone during her main damage window. It is essentially a lower-maintenance version of the previous team, focused on consistency and survivability.

The Breaking Build: Hiyuki, Lynae, and Mornye

This build leans into tactical play, focusing on the Tune Break mechanic, which allows players to stagger high-defense enemies more efficiently. Hiyuki and Lynae function similarly to other setups, but Mornye is introduced to increase the enemy’s Off-Tune buildup rate. This allows Hiyuki to skip portions of her standard attack strings, accelerating her rotation and letting her reach her finisher more quickly.

This team is popular because Lynae and Mornye already form a strong core, both benefiting from Tune Break multipliers. While all characters can use this mechanic, pre-Update 3.0 Resonators have a base buildup of zero, while Lynae stands out with one of the highest values.

By combining Mornye’s interruption resistance with Lynae’s amplification, Hiyuki becomes a constant pressure unit capable of staggering enemies frequently. However, this composition demands tighter timing to align Tune Break windows with Hiyuki’s burst phases.

Flexible Sub-DPS and Support Alternatives

One downside to the other compositions is that they rely entirely on five-star characters from limited banners. While Wuthering Waves has a relatively forgiving pity system, not every player will have access to all of them.

Fortunately, Hiyuki still performs well with more accessible options. Zhezhi is a strong alternative for the sub-DPS role, offering coordinated attacks and Glacio damage amplification. Other flexible damage dealers such as Yinlin, Changli, or Jianxin can also fill this role depending on your roster.

On the support side, if Chisa or Shorekeeper are unavailable, Verina remains one of the best options thanks to her universal attack buffs. Lower-cost alternatives like Baizhi or Buling can also keep the team stable and functional.

Final Thoughts

Hiyuki is a high-ceiling character whose full potential is still waiting for the roster to catch up. While she is already extremely strong in premium teams with Lynae and Chisa, her kit suggests she will only improve as more Glacio-focused characters are introduced.

In short, she is built for the long run, and that is always a good thing.

Wuthering Waves is a free-to-play game available on PC, Android, iOS, and PlayStation 5.
