Soldiers of the easy mode, rejoice: earlier today EA revealed the new “Casual Breakthrough” mode for Battlefield 6. Through its own post via X, the (Saudi-?)American publisher stated that the new format is a way to ease low-level players into the fray through a low pressure environment that allows everyone to thrive, upgrade and level up.
Also, bots. Lots of them.
According to, well, a lot of players in forums like Reddit and EA’s own pages, really, one of the main gripes in Battlefield 6 is the fact that a lot of its multiplayer matches thave a tendency of getting too chaotic — especially when the maps is more close-quartered — which hinders the experience and progression of players who are not fond of the high stakes warfighting most users have come to know and love.
Casual Breakthrough comes to address that, uniting players and AI bots in a type of match that allows for an easier progression on overall levels, including battle pass, weapons, and profiles.
We’ll let EA’s own post do the talking, but read on to find a full breakdown below:
Battlefield 6 Casual Breakthrough Mode: Everything you need to know

Essentially, the new Casual Breakthrough mode brings a multiplayer setting just like its original counterpart (that being the regular Breakthrough). The main difference here is that the new stuff comprises 8 human players per team, with 16 bots each, blending everything together for an easier, more entry-level experience.
The new mode was released today, November 1st, and it’s already available through the game’s main menu: the idea is to provide players with a short-and-sweet type of experience with quicker matchmaking and reduced levels of pressure — supposedly perfect for players who are just grinding for challenges or seeking to upgrade/level up specific aspects of their styles.

The mechanics are pretty much the same as the regular version: players will push through the enemy’s base, while the other side will try to hold off the opponent’s invasion, while trying to carry out an incursion of their own. The bot support might seem like a “dumb down” scenario, but EA assures everyone that the game might have a “casual” entry (I mean, it is in the name, after all), but it is by no means “easier” — human strategy and quick-thinking are still key for winning matches…from the looks of it, the Casual Breakthrough mode sounds like it will give you a little bit of breathing room to come up with and implement fighting tactics.
Moreover so, this addresses a small controversy surrounding Battlefield 6 as of late: before the new mode was introduced, some players would create XP farms through the game’s Portal feature, providing matches with simple-to-kill AI bots in order to plow through levels and inflate their own numbers, without necessarily taking part in the competitive side of the game.
Now, XP farming by itself is not wrong nor illegal. However, EA didn’t take kindly to it and started nerfing the bot fighting experience — and therein came the so-called controversy: by nerfing this part of the game, the publisher created a divide within the community.
On one side, high-stakes players commended the company for enforcing the competitive component of multiplayer. On the other, some fans complained this could drive off casual players since their main progression system was now getting less-than-optimal rewards.
Enter Casual Breakthrough, with its intention of being the common ground for both sides: it’s still a multiplayer mode, through and through, but since the majority of “players” in the match are AI bots, everyone will be able to rack up some levels and progress further on their playthrough.

It is worth noting that Battlefield 6 came out on October 10th, 2025, and immediately racked up raving reviews and some pretty numbers, too.
From that time until now, the game had several updates that included a bunch of content, including a Battle Royale mode we talked about extensively already, so do check that out as well — especially since Casual Breakthrough might put you off and you’re looking for more oomph on your playthrough.
The game is out for PS5 and Xbox Series consoles, as well as PC.
