RuneScape: Dragonwilds, which was one of the best-selling titles on Steam last year, continues to build momentum, and now players are getting some welcome news. The developers have announced lower pricing for dedicated servers, along with automatic refunds for existing customers.
The update comes after the team reviewed performance data from recently introduced dedicated servers, which were launched in partnership with hosting provider Shockbyte. According to the developers, server performance has exceeded expectations across the board.
Strong Performance Leads to Price Cuts
Since the rollout of dedicated servers, the team has been closely monitoring how they perform in real-world conditions. The data showed that servers were running more efficiently than anticipated, with lower memory usage and strong overall stability.
Because of this, both the developers and Shockbyte agreed to reduce the resources allocated to each server plan. Rather than keeping prices the same, those savings are being passed directly to players.
Shockbyte also confirmed that this change does not impact performance. The extra resources initially allocated were largely unused, meaning players will get the same experience at a lower cost.
New Server Pricing
The updated pricing structure is now as follows:
- Starter Plan (2 Players, 3GB RAM): $9.99/month (down from $14.99)
- Standard Plan (4 Players, 4GB RAM): $14.99/month (down from $20.99)
- Premium Plan (6 Players, 5GB RAM): $19.99/month (down from $25.99)
This means players can now start a two-player server for under $10 per month, making it more accessible to jump into the game with friends.
Refunds for Existing Customers
Players who have already purchased dedicated server plans won’t miss out on the savings. Shockbyte has confirmed that all existing customers will automatically receive refunds for the price difference.
This also applies to any extra RAM add-ons that were previously purchased. Players will have the option to re-add additional resources manually if they still want them.
The developers emphasized that this pricing adjustment is part of their ongoing effort to refine the Dragonwilds experience. With dedicated servers still relatively new, the team is continuing to use player data to optimize performance and balance resource allocation.
